General Motors (GM) and Segway (the scooter company) are teaming up to create a battery-powered vehicle. As of now there are only prototypes of the vehicle. It is called the Puma (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility). It goes 35mph and travels 35 miles under one 6 hour charge. It can be used on streets, but will mostly be used on sidewalks and bike trails. The two companies are trying to shape the future of transportation. The Puma is designed to decrease urban traffic, to get places faster, and to make traveling shorter distances (when a car is not needed) easier. Electric vehicles will play a big part in our daily lives of the future and the Puma is just the beginning. There are a few setbacks but overall it does more good than bad.
